22nd April - Swami Sarvapriyanda & Bernardo Kastrup in Dialogue

22nd April - Swami Sarvapriyanda & Bernardo Kastrup in Dialogue

When I was first introduced to Swami Sarvapriyananda, I immediately fell in love with his humour, charisma and intelligence. He mixes story, metaphor and a vast knowledge of Vedanta to convey nondual teachings with clarify and power.

Last year I travelled to the Netherlands to see Swami in dialogue with Bernardo, and was warmed by their mutual respect and curiosity for each other.

This session will primarily be a dialogue between Swami & Bernardo, exploring their mutual understanding of reality, their respective responses to Buddhist critiques of non-duality, and comparing the Western and Eastern approaches to spirituality.

Although head minister of the Vedanta Society of New York, Swami Sarvapriyananda continues to engage with modern science as well as other traditions - he recently did a year at Harvard as a student of Jay Garfield in order to gain a deeper understanding of Buddhist teachings on Emptiness. He then wrote a book comparing these two great Indian traditions - Fullness & Emptiness.

Additionally, I'll invite the themes that you bring up in the comments below, in the chat during the call. If there is time we'll take audience questions.

This event is also available to non-members who want to join as a one-off event, so feel free to share the this link with curious friends: https://dandelion.events/e/j8418

So looking forward to seeing you there!

About Swami Sarvapriyananda

Swami Sarvapriyananda is a widely respected monk of the Ramakrishna Order, currently serving as head minister of the Vedanta Society of New York. A dynamic teacher renowned for his ability to convey complex Vedantic principles with remarkable clarity, he regularly attracts global audiences through his lectures and online presence. His background combines deep scholarship in traditional Vedantic texts - particularly his illuminating talks on the Mandukya Upanishad and Drig Drishya Viveka - with an engagement with contemporary philosophy and science.

Before joining the Vedanta Society of New York, he served as assistant minister of the Vedanta Society of Southern California and prior to that as Principal of the Probationers' Training Center at Belur Math. He holds a degree in Business Management from Xavier Institute of Management, Bhubaneswar, and his talks seamlessly weave insights from modern fields like neuroscience and quantum physics with traditional Vedantic teachings.
