Jungian psychology and idealism: Regular community meetup every 2nd Wednesday

Jungian psychology and idealism: Regular community meetup every 2nd Wednesday

There is an open invitation for members to initiate specialised focus and discussion groups, which will be listed here.

The Jungian psychology group is hosted by Mark, a Jungian analyst who works with Jung’s epistemological concepts in many forms, academic or not.

The group meets every second Wed, at:

6-8pm UK time / 7-9pm CET / 1-3pm EST

The intention is to discuss specifically Jungian psychology and how it is related to analytic idealism. Since Jung was a great influence, and is mentioned a lot in Bernardo’s talks, it's a chance to dive deeper into analytic psychology which could be beneficial to the members of this group.

If there are any Jungians also interested in joining and helping by deepening the conversations, please join.

The next meetings will be on the following dates:

  • April 9: The Pyschoid and Jung’s Metaphysical implications (Daimon, anima and animus)
  • April 23: Individuation and the archetype of the Self (meaning and the sacrificial life)
  • May 7: The Secret of the Golden Flower and Alchemy (metaphysical implications implicit in alchemy)
  • May 21: Answer to Job (Overview and discussion according to analytical idealism)

The following meetings will be built according to the following literature. The reading recommendations are supposed to enrich the talk, but they are not in any sense a "need to" to participate.

  • April 9: Decoding Jung’s Metaphysics (Bernardo Kastrup) - Chapter 5
  • April 23: Decoding Jung’s Metaphysics (Bernardo Kastrup) - Chapter 6
  • May 7: The Secret of the Golden Flower (CW- Carl G. Jung)
  • May 21: Answer to Job (CW - Carl G. Jung)

These are some additional readings which Mark has recommended to the group, for those willing to dive deeper in Jung's work:

  • Collected Works of C. G. Jung, Volume 7: Two Essays in Analytical Psychology
  • Collected Works of C. G. Jung, Volume 8: The Structure and Dynamics of the Psyche
  • Collected Works of C. G. Jung, Volume 9 (Part 1): Archetypes and the Collective Unconscious
  • Collected Works of C. G. Jung, Volume 12: Psychology and Alchemy
  • Collected Works of C. G. Jung, Volume 11: Psychology and Religion (Answer to Job)

The meetings are being recorded, and a lot of additional material, like books and powerpoint presentations are being added to the drive, listed below.

The meetings always start with a quick summary of the content developed in the previous sessions, and every session is built for anyone to join even if they weren't able to do it before for any reason. Although there are reading recommendations, they are supposed to enrich the talk, but they are not in any sense a "need to" to participate.

Everyone is welcome, and the main goal is to introduce everyone to the main concepts of Carl G. Jung's epistemological concepts, perceiving how this understanding may help the understanding of Analytical Idealism, and do it through a lot of discussions and constructive debates.

Zoom room and links to recordings of past meetings and many other resources are listed below.
