Wed 18th Feb - The biggest challenge to Bernardo's Naturalism: Seeing Without Eyes

We're meeting this week on Wed 18th of Feb, as Bernardo has now has an Euclyd meeting this Tuesday. I hope you can still make it live, and thanks for your flexibility if so!

Based on chats and the Telegram group, many of us remain confused:

Why are reports of seeing without eyes such a challenge to naturalism?

I believe that understanding Bernardo's thoughts on this will clarify many deep aspects of Analytic Idealism, both its strengths and weaknesses.

Kiri and I made a compilation on the topic from our recent discussions:

If we cover this in the first part of the session, we'll go to other recent questions that we haven't had time for.

Your thoughts and reflections on seeing without eyes are appreciated in the comments below.

Looking forward to seeing you (with my eyes) on Wednesday.

With love,

Amir

As background, the following report argues that “seeing without eyes” might be a real, measurable phenomenon, and that if it were demonstrated under tight controls it would seriously challenge the view that perception must be mediated by the ordinary senses and the brain alone:
