A Worldview for Global Change

Idealism, cosmology & regenerative economics with Jude Currivan & Bernardo Kastrup 27th January 2026

A Worldview for Global Change
Dr Jude Currivan PhD MSc CMA

What if the patterns observed at every scale in the cosmos could guide an economic system aligned with life?

The scientific paradigm of the 19th century was mechanistic; a universe made of separate parts, each with its own proper place. This drove new technologies and the industrial revolution, but also the way we viewed ourselves, our economy, our health care and the ways we govern and educate our children.

If people are mere cogs in a giant machine, their value is measured in production, and their lives stripped of meaning. This mechanistic perspective incentivises separation, extraction and short-term thinking.

This reductionist paradigm has been overturned in science, most recently in the Nobel Prize of 2022. It clearly showed that reality is non-local:  objects can instantaneously influence or correlate with each other's state regardless of the distance separating them, violating the classical principle of locality where objects are only affected by their immediate surroundings.

(Nobel prizes are widely viewed as only awarded for settled science. Einstein did not get it for relativity because it was too contentious. He got it for the photoelectric effect.)

The scientific evidence of recent decades indicates that the universe is not made of separate objects, but is one field of relationality. The complexity we observe is a web of interdependence that extends through time and space.

Dr Jude Currivan, (PhD MSc CMA), is a cosmologist, planetary healer, futurist, and author. She has an master's in physics from Oxford, a PhD in archaeology, and senior business experience ranging from the UK Stock Exchange to international corporations including HMV and Scholl.

Her work in emerging science points to consciousness, information and meaning as primary to existence. Together with leading economists, she calls for a systemic transformation in global economy guided by observable patterns of the universe.

This is a move away from mere sustainability and towards regeneration, recognising that people, organisations and planets exist in a network of reciprocity.

In this session, Jude presents the evidence for understanding reality as a “cosmic hologram”, how the universe is evolving and is predisposed towards emerging life, and how entropy can be better understood, not as a disintegration from order to disorder, but as an increase in informational content.

Bernardo is both Founder/CEO at AI systems company Euclyd BV, and director of Essentia Foundation, leading the Western renaissance of metaphysical idealism in academia and science, the view that mind, spirit, or consciousness is the ultimate nature of reality.

Together, they compare how consciousness-based worldviews can inform how we live our lives, and the need for systemic change. They discuss the implications of these perspectives for the economy, business, and our roles as citizens of the earth.

The way forward is far from simple.

Bernardo is candid about the challenges of implementing idealism in business. Our current laws require adherence to an old world view, requiring firms to prioritise shareholders over wider concerns.

Jude has several recommendations on how to widen the circle of compassion, and turn the law on its head.

First, recognise the health of the planet is vital to the well-being of all the stakeholders in any business.

Second, properly account for externalities and opportunity costs. (Externalities are costs that affect third parties not directly involved in the production or consumption of a good.) Jude is working with 'Accounting for Reality' which was at the table at COP and are hoping to get in front of the Norwegian Sovereign Fund and Pensions for Purpose. Investors who can take a wider perspective on the future. After all, of what use is a pension on a planet that doesn't support life?

Beyond reforming or “resetting” existing systems, (like a recommended a sales tax on share transfers, which don't do anyone any good), there’s a growing movement towards regenerative economics: practical, place-based work organised around living regions (like watersheds and bioregions) where communities collaborate to restore ecological and social health.

Bernardo and Jude both agree the the current system incentivises much poor behaviour, from trading down to the drug laws. These are based on 19th century mechanists perspective, with known carcinogens tobacco and alcohol legal and relatively benign psychedelics illegal.

Whilst Jude acknowledges the many reasons to be pessimistic, she also highlights the many initiatives going on that we don't hear about in the mainstream media.

She points to efforts in places such as Cascadia, the Amazon headwaters, and across the Himalaya watershed, highlighting people convening local groups to listen, coordinate, and act together. The emphasis isn’t on persuading people into a new ideology, but on bringing communities into relationship so they can change behaviour and improve collective wellbeing, including work emerging with Bhutan.

"How do we encourage that and support that? And that's part of that journey. And then ultimately, we move to what I call a unitive economics, which is an economics based on a unitive perspective...It is, in part, systemic, and it is part multi-level and grassroots level, but it is happening."

As a warm up you might enjoy this short film produced by Jude, and the links she mentions in the discussion:

This session was recommended by fellow community member Greg Suart, who through his work with meta-conscious leaders hopes to align business with principals that emerge from idealism. I especially enjoyed this section of their conversation:

About Jude Currivan

Dr Jude Currivan PhD MSc CMA is a cosmologist, planetary healer, futurist, and author whose life’s work unites leading-edge science with universal wisdom traditions.

Holding a master’s degree in physics from Oxford and a doctorate in archaeology from Reading, she also trained as a Chartered Management Accountant and served on the Council of the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and the UK Stock Exchange Listing Committee.

Jude’s early career was in global commerce – she was Group Finance Director of international corporations HMV and Scholl, establishing operations in multiple continents. This experience gave her an intimate understanding of the world’s economic and financial systems, later informing her systemic approach to global transformation.

In the mid-1990s she turned to full-time research and planetary service, integrating her scientific background with her lifelong exploration of consciousness, ancient cosmologies, and the evolution of life. Her seminal works—The 8th Chakra, The 13th Step, HOPE – Healing Our People and Earth, The Cosmic Hologram, and The Story of Gaia – chart a profound arc from personal awakening to planetary evolution.

In them she proposes that the universe is a living, unified system of in-formation - where energy, matter, and consciousness are inseparable aspects of a cosmic whole.

Through her non-profit WholeWorld-View, Jude collaborates with scientists, business leaders, economists, and change agents to foster what she describes as a new “WholeWorld cosmology” – a worldview based on unity, coherence, and regenerative design. She is an active member of the Club of Rome and the Evolutionary Leaders Circle, contributing to global dialogues on reframing economics, rethinking finance, and cultivating planetary well-being.
