Is love fundamental?
Q&A with Bernardo Kastrup 16th Dec 2025
- Is love fundamental?
- Who are we praying to?
- Meaning and forgiveness in self-imposed tragedy
- Do we need language to know the unconscious?
This week we start with questions we didn't get to in our sessions with Christopher Timmermann and James Hollis.
We'll take follow-on questions from the chat, based on the conversation!
See you there :)

Christian PSYCHEDELICS (5-MEO DMT), EGO DEATH AND THE FEELING OF UNCONDITIONAL LOVE.
How does the feeling of unconditional love (felt on many psychedelics) after ego death fit into the idealist framework? NDE-ers, Mystics from all traditions and spiritual seekers also report this feeling of unconditional love as something fundamental to the ground of reality. Is it just the effect of surpassing the Ego or is it something more ontological, like a characteristic of the Source, God, Universal Consciousness?
Rita Conde TO WHOM ARE WE PRAYING WHEN WE PRAY ?
From an analytic idealist perspective and from a Jungian/archetypal perspective, what exactly is occurring when we pray? Are we addressing a divine Other, a psychological archetype, or a personal daimonic aspect of consciousness? In other words, is prayer a dialogue with something beyond us, or a symbolic interaction with aspects of our own psyche ?
Olivier Goethals ABOUT SELF FORGIVENESS
How can one overcome guilt/shame & accept a self-created, negative, live threatening condition as the new given; deal with it in a positive meaningful way; independent from ones previous actions one detests?
Harijs Rokis MAKING THE "UNCONSCIOUS CONSCIOUS” WITHOUT CONCEPTUAL OR VERBALIZATION
Depending on one's psychic configuration, can one instead be effective in the process of meaningful individuation via non-verbal, non-propositional communication, harmonious integration (including the shadow work and wise discernment between true daimonic calling and the shadow, ego and trauma-based voices/self-appointed protectors, accompanied with self-destructive behavioral patterns) and, ultimately, wise transformation, including such approaches as arts/dance/movement therapies (or otherwise), all the while truly recognizing the dance of the underlying archetypes and experiencing intuitive/imaginal insights?
Is deeply philosophical contemplation possible without verbalization/articulation not only publicly/orally, but also privately (i.e., within the boundaries of the personal mind-stream), disabling the over-production of conceptual map-making of the territory by the metacognitive rational mind?
